Who I Am

I’m a sixth-generation farmer with 26 years of farm drainage experience-from installing tile to designing tile plans. I started Wet Ground Advisor because a good soil map does not tell you whether the farm is drainable.

I can look at a field and know whether tiling will be inexpensive or costly. Most people buying farm ground cannot. They risk paying “good ground” money for a farm that underperforms the well-drained neighbor until substantial tiling is installed.

What I look at

Wet holes, outlets, old tile, how far a main would have to run, and the soil types that sets lateral spacing. Tight ground that needs laterals every 40 feet cost a lot more than better soil that can go 50 or 60 feet on center.

How I work

I give a straight opinion. I do not sell a tiling job with the advice. You get a buyer-protection read and rough cost range, not a surveyed design or contractor bid.

Who this is for

Buyers, heirs, lenders, and realtors who need someone who has actually put tile in the ground to look at the farm before money changes hands.

How this can save you money

For first-time farm buyers and people with no farm background. Good soils still fail if the farm will not drain. That mistake can cost $1000 to $3000+ per acre. Desk analysis and on-site walks help you see the drain bill before you buy.
